This hot sauce had a great smokey, spicy flavor! It was slightly more sweet than what I prefer, but still good overall.
I like to think of myself as a hot sauce savant since I put chili flakes and hot sauce on just about everything and have tried too many sauces to count. THIS hot sauce is the very best I’ve ever had. 10 out of 10!! It’s robust, smooth, zesty, fresh just overall delicious. First had it on seafood while visiting Maine…can’t wait to try it on meat here in Kansas City. 🤗

I put this stuff on everything. Asian, chili, wings…you name it. Nice subtle heat but great flavor! Haven’t had a bad sauce from these folks yet! Who knew Maine was the place to go for hot sauce!?

Captain Mowatt’s Canceaux Sauce is a wonderful combination of sweetness with a bite of heat. The heat is manageable as I typically don’t like overly hot sauces. The Canceaux sauce is my go to topping on my scrambled eggs. So good.

Friends bought me a bottle while they were on vacation. I have been devouring this sauce on just about anything. It has heat but a surprisingly dubtle sweet flavor as well. I went through the gift bottle and immediately ordered two more! My absolute favorite!!!

Awesome flavor
I fell in love with Canceaux on a recent trip to Portland and wasn’t able to find it to bring home. When I saw the Turbeaux version online I had to add it to my order. Boy does this hit the mark! Even with this simple beef stew meat on the grill it’s so good. The pepper in the bottle was a great surprise. Thank you kind stranger at Becky’s Diner for telling me about this.
My husband and I first tasted the Canceaux Sauce while visiting Portland Maine in a lovely restaurant there and loved it! My husband recently passed away after 53 years of being happily married. The experience we shared in enjoying your hot sauce brought back fond memories of him so I wanted to add it to my collection of hot sauces I have displayed on a shelf in my kitchen. Unfortunately the bottle is too large to be displayed there because it is larger than the rest but I have been very much enjoying having it to add a touch of deliciousness to my food. Thank you for the free extra bottle added to my purchase which is why I was excited to place my order. One to eat and one to display. Sorry the bottle size was too big though! Now I will just have two bottles to enjoy! Thank you so much!

We also stopped and Becky’s Diner and bought some Captain Mowatt’s Canceaux Sauce. It is by far the best sauce I’ve had and I’m an old 66 year old. That’s a lot of sauce tried. Two things: 1. Go to Becky’s and 2. Buy the awesome sauce. 5 Stars
I bought the Boston Red Sauce and the Canceaux Sauce and I like them both but I will be ordering the Boston Red sauce again
This sauce is THE BOSS! Goes with everything from eggs, to BBQ, to Pizza. Not too hot with a hint of sweetness. It probably would go with everything -- just have to try it and see.
It looks like time to order more Canceaux sauce. My brother John turned me onto this sauce a few years ago. A simple Christmas gift has become a big part of my breakfast routine. Captain Mowatt’s Canceaux Sauce splashed over my scrambled eggs is just perfect I typically don’t like hot sauces that overwhelm the food item and this sauce has the right balance. It gives you a little sweetness and a nice touch of heat.

If you’re on the fence at all, get it. It’s well worth the money. This is Los Caliente Verde are my two favorite hot sauces and will be in heavy rotation forever.
On our recent visit to Portland we had dinner at J's Oyster . I had Haddock for dinner and the hot sauce was Captain Mowatts Canceaux . I enjoy a good hot sauce that is not so hot you need to wash it down, but at the same time not so wimpy that you need to keep dumping more on ! This was a perfect heat for me .....ordered some as soon as we got home ! Thank you

Here's the truth of the matter. I received a bottle of Canceaux sauce and unfortunately the top was broken off the bottle when I opened it. I contacted Captain Mowatt's and they shipped a new bottle to me immediately. It arrived the next day. I couldn't wait to try the sauce as I had only had a taste of it when I tried it at a local crafts fair. The sauce didn't disappoint. It was delicious (on thinly sliced pork chops)! Easily my new favorite sauce, without question. I’m a Massachusetts native, and I happened to stop at Becky’s Diner while traveling through Maine. I saw a bottle on the table and noticed it was made in Portland, so I had to give the local flavor a shot. Let me tell you… The. Best. Sauce. EVER! Although my husband and son have always put hot sauce on their eggs I just never did, that is until our first time going to Becky’s Diner in Portland(what a great place!).
